This restaurant has amazing views of the Aviara golf course and we've visited the past few years even before they changed the name to Ember & Rye. Maria, Letty and Leo are friendly and helpful in seating us at an outdoor table with good shades and taking care of us.

Maria, Letty and Leo are friendly and helpful in seating us at an outdoor table with good shades and taking care of us. They paid attention to fill up our iced tea and water. It's very dog friendly, our furry friend got a bowl of water as well. We ordered calamari fritti (the size is smaller over the years), beet and pear salad (very good & refreshing), Caesar salad (artichoke is a good ingredient) is a bit over dressed, the pastrami sandwich (good fries, excellent kimchi sauce, but the pastrami itself is a bit tough) and pear pavlova (the cream tastes like curd, the meringue topping is hard). We didn't order steak this time which is their forte...
I didn’t want to like this place . But it started off with garlic croissants for the table and I knew I was a goner . The drinks are well balanced with a huge variety go choose from . The staff made us feel right at home and just lavished
I didn’t want to like this place . But it started off with garlic croissants for the table and I knew I was a goner . The drinks are well balanced with a huge variety go choose from . The staff made us feel right at home and just lavished us with attention . Our server, Erica , was awesome . Her recommendations were spot on . We shared a lot of apps and none of them were disappointing. I got a perfectly seared and flavorful steak . I’ll be swinging by for the happy hour . I hear great things . Treat yo self !
Wow , what a steakhouse , best experience ever
I'll start with the positive. Antoine, our server, was wonderful. The front desk was wonderful. Even sat us earlier than our designated reservation.
Now the not so good parts. When we sat down, I noticed my napkin had maybe 5 ants crawling on it. Throughout the dinner, sporadic ants would crawl

We ordered calamari for an appetizer. When it eventually arrived, it was soggy. Think what day old french fries reheated in a microwave. Thats the consistency the calamari was like. Zero crispy texture.
It took 1 hr from ordering, for our dinner to arrive. The plates were the only thing hot. My wife got a NY Steak and I ordered a Filet Mignon. Both cooked for Medium. Only hers was medium, mine was nearly well done. Both steaks dry like eating a biscuit with no drink.
You are better off eating at the other establishments. For the price you pay, this was sloppy overall.
My wife and I have been coming to Jamul casino to enjoy their gaming machines for a while now. While we usually don't eat here other than maybe a snack or drink from the food court but last night we were both hungry.
The place feels very upscale and the live

The place feels very upscale and the live piano player was a nice touch. The service from the hostess, to wait staff, to buss-boy were all great! The bread and sea-salt butter they bring you is good. We split a wedge salad and I ordered a cup of their butternut squash soup, both were tasty. I spotted a wagyu burger on the menu and sounded good. My wife ordered wagyu Bolognese. When the waitress returned she actually mentioned how good their burger was before I ordered and I commented how that was great because that's what I was going to order.
When the food arrived, it was bland. It was edible, but lacked seasoning. I thought it was just my burger & I didn't say anything. When I asked how her pasta was, my wife said "it's ok" and I had to try it. Same. Lack of seasoning and bland. I don't know if they afraid of spices in the kitchen or what. A shame really because the food quality was there. Beef on the burger was cooked perfectly, tender and juicy. It had potential to be great! Pasta was beautiful and perfect presentation as you can see in the pictures, but just nothing there for the taste buds. I will say the parmesan fries that came with the burger were delicious though!
I know... it's a steak house. Maybe we'll have to go back to order a steak, but the couple at the table next to us had to ask for steak sauce after they tried the first few bite and that's never a good sign.
